I'm a journalist and author living in Perthshire.
My first book, The Art of Coorie, is a Waterstones bestseller. It's been translated into French and Russian and looks at life in contemporary Scotland. You can buy it here.
I've written for The Guardian, The Observer, The Times and Sunday Times,
The Telegraph and many more. Before I went freelance I was a section editor at the Scottish edition of The Times, where I worked for seven years. My specialisms are travel, housing and social justice across features, news, interviews, investigations and columns.
In 2021 I was named travel writer of the year at the Scottish Press Awards and regional property journalist of the year at the UK Property Press Awards. In 2019 I was the recipient of a travel writing award from Moniack Mhor, Scotland's creative writing centre, which enabled me to start work on my second book.
I also chair events, in particular book festivals. If you'd like me to host or write for you please get in touch.
