Award-winning journalist, reporter, author and event host
I specialise in housing and architecture, travel, place and cities with a focus on the possibilities of radical urban planning. My work has appeared in The Guardian, The Observer, The Times and Sunday Times, The House, Art UK and more.
I write two weekly columns - one on the built environment for The Sunday Times Home and the other for The Times' T2 and Alba sections.
My monthly newsletter explores the relationship between built and natural worlds. Subscribe here.
My first book, The Art of Coorie (Bonnier Books) is a Waterstones bestseller. It's been translated into French and Russian and looks at life in contemporary Scotland. You can buy it here
In 2021 my investigation into the cladding crisis won me Regional Property Journalist of the year at the UK Property Press Awards. That year I was also named Travel Writer of the Year at the Scottish Press Awards and came Highly Commended in the same category in 2022.
I'm also an experienced broadcaster, having presented for ITV's This Morning and appeared as a guest on BBC shows including Countryfile and Debate Night. In my work as a commentator and chair for radio, TV and live events I've worked with BBC Scotland, Glasgow's Aye Write book festival and the Boswell book festival.
